A signature event of the Alzheimer's Association, Blondes vs. Brunettes® Austin is a fun and competitive powder-puff football game for young Austinites that raise awareness and funds to benefit the Alzheimer's Association.
Edith Royal, UT Football royalty and Trustee of the Darrell K Royal Research Fund for Alzheimer's Disease, will serve as the 2013 Honorary Commissioner.
The event concept is organized around a flag football game in which the two participating teams are divided based on the age-old rivalry between blondes and brunettes. Since its inception, Blondes vs. Brunettes® has successfully raised more than $2,000,000 across the nation.
Player: Make plays to tackle Alzheimer's! Players commit to raising at least $500 through their personal fundraising page. Participation in the game is dependent upon players raising the $500 minimum by game day. Additionally, players need to attend 5 out of 8 practices to receive game time.
Coach: Share your love of football! Coaches commit to raising at least $500 through their personal fundraising page. Coaches need to attend every practice in order to coach the game. Coaches are responsible for ensuring the safety of the players during practices and at the game, as well as making sure players who have met the required fundraising and practice minimums get to play in the game.
Cheerleader: Have fun cheering your favorite team on and helping with game day execution! Cheerleaders commit to raising at least $250 through their personal fundraising page. Attending practices is optional, however, cheerleaders serve on the Logistics committee and assist with game day activities.
